Founded in 1752, Woodstock is the 4th oldest town in Virginia. Steeped in history, the town was home to the famed Revolutionary Peter Muhlenberg, who is most remembered for his fiery sermon in 1776 in which he called his congregation to arms, casting away his pastoral robes to reveal his uniform for the Continental Army, proclaiming there is “a time to pray and a time to fight and now is the time to fight.”

Walk through town to see the many historic homes and churches or unwind at W.O. Riley Park. Don’t miss the Shenandoah County Historic Courthouse, dating back to 1795 which now serves as a museum and visitor center. The Woodstock Museum and Wickham House are filled with treasures from Woodstock’s rich history.  Woodstock is also home to a variety of unique shops including antiques, wines, gourmet foods, accessories, garden centers and more. Enjoy award-winning cafes and restaurants or enjoy a pint at the local Brew House.
