What better way to enjoy time with your loved one than a relaxing, romantic getaway in the heart of the scenic Shenandoah Valley!
Take in the sunset over the Appalachian mountains, enjoy a bottle of local wine at one of the area’s many award-winning vineyards or settle in for the evening at a local bed & breakfast or cozy cabin in the mountains or along the Shenandoah River.

Begin your romantic retreat with a stop at Shenandoah Vineyards, the oldest vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley and second oldest vineyard in the state.  Relax over a warm glass of mulled wine. Next, head to historic downtown Edinburg for a tour of the Museum at the Edinburg Mill. Step back in time as you explore their treasure trove of collections including three floors of transportation, farm, clothing and textiles, household and business items showing life as it was in the valley. Tour some of the local galleries including Apple Gallery Déjà Vu and The Edinburg Gallery before savoring an authentic Italian dinner at Sal’s Italian Bistro located just up the road.   For those looking to stay out a bit later, the nearby Woodstock Brewhouse offers a great selection of craft beers or settle into one of Shenandoah County’s unique bed & breakfasts for a quieter evening.   Prefer a little privacy, check out one of the many vacation rental homes or cozy cabins in the area.

The next morning, wake up to enjoy a freshly prepared home made breakfast from Sunrise Cafe. Sunrise cafe offers freshly prepared breakfast scrambles, a variety of pancake flavors, and home-made sourdough bread.

Settle down at the Winery at Kindred Pointe, where you can enjoy wine tastings and a leisurely stroll along their many on-site trails. Outside food is welcome, so feel free to pack a picnic from one of the local cafes of markets. After some relaxation at the vineyard, take a short scenic drive to Meems Bottom Covered Bridge located in Mount Jackson. One of the best-known covered bridges in Virginia, this 204 foot single-span Burr arch truss bridge was originally built in 1894. Enjoy the views and beauty of winter before heading to Spa 122 for some much-deserved pampering. Couples massages, facials and mani-pedis are just a few options to choose from. Following your spa treatment, take a short drive to Strasburg for a nice dinner at Hotel Strasburg, where you can indulge in the culinary skills of their master chef in their Victorian dining room. After dining, explore Strasburg’s many antique shops or drive to Woodstock and enjoy a movie at the Community Theater, a quaint little theater that’s been in operation for over 90 years.

No trip to Shenandoah County is complete without taking in the beautiful vistas and breath taking scenery.   If looking for a short hike, the Woodstock Tower or Story Book Trail offer outstanding views with easily accessible trails for all abilities.  In fact, Story Book Trail is even handicap accessible.  Those looking for more adventure can tackle Big Schloss which straddles the Virginia/West Virginia border and is perfect for selfies atop the rock outcrops at the end of the trail.    Enjoy a meal afterwards at the Woodstock Garden Cafe where you can re-energize over a hearty sandwich and soup combo or warm up over a cup of locally roasted coffee.
