BEER, WINE & SPIRITS

Enjoy a weekend away as you sip fabulous wine, beer and spirits along the Shenandoah Spirits Trail which now features more than 40 vineyards, craft breweries, distilleries and cideries throughout the  Northern Shenandoah Valley stretching from Winchester to Harrisonburg.

Within the Spirits Trail, Shenandoah County is home to nine award-winning wineries offering the best of Virginia wine.  The deep, rocky soil and low rainfall make Shenandoah County an ideal destination for growing grapes.  It’s no wonder the Shenandoah Valley is home to so many vineyards.   Sip wine on the patio of Virginia’s 2015 Governor’s Cup Winner, Muse Vineyard or visit the second oldest vineyard in the state and renowned wine maker Michael Shaps’ newest undertaking, Shenandoah Vineyards.

Shenandoah County is also home to four craft breweries each with its own unique atmosphere and beers.  Visitors can take in the scenery at farm brweries using their own locally sourced ingredients or enjoy a pint at breweries located in renovated historic structures.

Beer and wine not your thing?  No problem!  We also have one cidery and a distillery.

Cave Ridge is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery located in the foothills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, world renowned for its scenic beauty and history. Low rainfall and deep, rocky soils make this an ideal location for growing the highest quality grapes used in making our wines. Our approach is to produce wines that emphasize the fruit character of the grape using a minimalist approach to our wine making. Open Wednesday-Sunday

French oak barrel aging is the key to making fine wine – it adds depth, complexity and elegance…so why not try it with whiskey? We call our unique process “Dual Cask”.   Our gifted master blender selects the best barrels of aged American whiskies he can find, and assembles a bi-partisan blend of young and old – young for the spicy edginess, and old for the mellow smoothness. We let them get to know each other in French oak wine barrels for a few months, and when they come out, we have what we believe is one of the best whiskies on the market. Filibuster! – A whisky so good, you won’t stop talking about it! Tasting room not open at this time.

Winner of the 2015 Governor’s Cup for their 2009 Clio Blend. The inspiration for Muse Vineyards comes from the small domain wineries of France and Italy, where their small vineyards have often been passed down for centuries through the same families. The wines are made exclusively from grapes grown on the estates and the fermenting, pressing, barrel-aging and bottling of the wine are also done only at the domain. The result is a wine from an identifiable place. Muse Vineyard’s wines are by deliberate intent the authentic expression of a place- the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Open Friday-Saturday  12pm-8pm, Sunday 12pm – 6pm.
