SHENANDOAH COUNTY

CRAFT BEER, WINE, CIDER, DISTILLED SPIRITS

Shenandoah County is home to award-winning wineries offering the best of Virginia wine.  The deep, rocky soil and low rainfall make Shenandoah County an ideal destination for growing grapes.  It’s no wonder the Shenandoah Valley is home to so many vineyards, with Shenandoah County having the highest concentration in the Valley. If you like craft beer we have three unique breweries each with its own unique atmosphere, food, activities, and  of course beer!  Visitors can take in the scenery at a farm brewery or enjoy a pint at breweries located in renovated historic structures.

Beer and wine not your thing?  No problem!  We also have two cideries and a distillery. You can also enjoy the libations of the County on a guided tour with Seven Bends Spirits Tours

Cave Ridge Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery located in the foothills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, world renowned for its scenic beauty and history. Low rainfall and deep, rocky soils make this an ideal location for growing the highest quality grapes used in making our wines. Our approach is to produce wines that emphasize the fruit character of the grape using a minimalist approach to our wine making.

French oak barrel aging is the key to making fine wine – it adds depth, complexity and elegance…so why not try it with whiskey? We call our unique process “Dual Cask”.   Our gifted master blender selects the best barrels of aged American whiskies he can find, and assembles a bi-partisan blend of young and old – young for the spicy edginess, and old for the mellow smoothness. We let them get to know each other in French oak wine barrels for a few months, and when they come out, we have what we believe is one of the best whiskies on the market. Filibuster! – A whisky so good, you won’t stop talking about it!

The inspiration for Muse Vineyards comes from the small domaine wineries of France and Italy, where their small vineyards have often been passed down for centuries through the same families. The wines are made exclusively from grapes grown on the estates and the fermenting, pressing, barrel-aging and bottling of the wine are also done only at the domain. The result is a wine from an identifiable place. Muse Vineyard’s wines are by deliberate intent the authentic expression of a place- the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Did you know this 35 acre vineyard practices sustainability by using its pomice (skins that remain after the grapes are pressed and the juice is made into wine) into a fertilizer for their home-grown tomatoes which in turn they use for food like the tasty caprese salads served in the tasting room.
