The Virginia Classic

April 5

Set in downtown Strasburg, The Virginia Classic celebrates the region’s wine, food and agricultural heritage. Enjoy a tasting of wines from local vineyards, small bites by an award-winning chef, and expert-led seminars with D.C.’s first Master of Wine.

Vintage in the Valley

April 5

For antique lovers, this event is a must-attend. Vintage in the Valley brings together a whole range of vintage treasures. You’ll find a curated selection of items from local vendors, showcasing everything from clothing to rare antiques, plus a fashion show, vintage and modern car show, and carriage rides. Like the Virginia Classic, this event is held in Strasburg, so the whole family has their pick of festivities this day.

Shenandoah County Heritage Day

April 12

This year, this event will celebrate its 250th anniversary, making the Heritage Day celebration even more special. It celebrates the rich history of the area and is a day for researchers, genealogists and residents to learn more about Shenandoah County. It’ll be held at Shrine Mont, with the celebration ending with square dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Woofstock

April 26

For dog lovers and pet owners, Woofstock in Woodstock (get it?) is set to be a tail-wagging good time! This event celebrates four-legged friends with a day of pet-friendly activities, contests, displays from local vendors, and information about local services and products for pets. Attendees are welcome to bring supplies and monetary donations for the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter.

Shenandoah Downs

Weekends in April-May, August-October

Shenandoah Downs offers harness racing at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds in Woodstock. Throughout the spring and then again later in the year, spectators have the chance to enjoy live races in a family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned race fan, Shenandoah Downs is ready to welcome you for its 2025 season.

Jammin’ Foods Fest

May 17

This unique festival in New Market combines two of the things that Shenandoah County does best: great food and good music. Jammin’ Foods Fest is free and will offer food trucks, local vendors, kid-friendly activities and live performances. Who wouldn’t want to spend a spring day sampling delicious food while also enjoying the sounds of local musicians?

Strasburg Mayfest

Strasburg's Mayfest is a family-oriented event that celebrates local arts, crafts, food and music. This year’s celebration will feature a parade, kids’ fun zone, Old Timers Baseball Game and duck race. It’s the perfect way for the family to welcome spring in Shenandoah County.

Shenandoah Valley Wine Festival

June 7

Presented by the Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail, this festival brings together the local wineries for a day of tastings, live music and food. It’s the perfect opportunity to sample some of the finest wines in the region while also enjoying the natural beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.

Seven Bends Adventure Race

June 14

Ready for a challenge? This event is a seven-hour race through Seven Bends State Park, designed for athletes and adventure-seekers alike. Participants will navigate a variety of obstacles that require biking, paddling, trekking and a whole lot of willpower. The best part? Afterward, there’s a post-race wine social at Muse Vineyards, located just a few minutes from the race’s finish line. There’s nothing like hot pizza, campfire s’mores, snacks and good company after a grueling race. It’s the perfect reward after conquering the all-day adventure.

No matter what your interests are, Shenandoah County offers something to make your spring unforgettable this year. From lively festivals to outdoor adventures, there's always an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful region.
