Toms Brook is Shenandoah County’s smallest town but witnessed significant Civil War action in 1864. The Battle of Toms Brook engaged over 9,000 Union and Confederate soldiers. The battle, also known as the “Woodstock Races” resulted in a Union Victory. Today, Toms Brook is home to several artisans and farms along the Shenandoah County Artisan Trail as well as convenient travel centers off Interstate 81.
