
SIP YOUR WAY THROUGH THE SHENANDOAH
Shenandoah County is home to 8 wineries, 3 craft breweries, 1 distillery and 1 cidery nestled among the beautiful scenery of the Shenandoah Valley. Here is a great suggested itinerary to take in Shenandoah County’s adult beverage scene.
DAY 1
spices, Start your day off at Woodbine Farms, located just west of Strasburg on Route 55. They offer fresh-baked bread and local fruit and cheeses to serve as the perfect accompaniment as you sip wine at your next stop, North Mountain Vineyards. This pet-friendly vineyard offers an array of elegant wines in a charming setting and offers a variety of events throughout the year including live music series. Proceed south along Rt. 11 to Woodstock for lunch and a little shopping at the Woodstock Café and Pantry 117. Be sure to take a stroll along Woodstock’s Main Street to Travelers Treasures for a great selection of honey, spices, snacks, and locally made crafts before continuing to Shenandoah Vineyards, the oldest vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley. Head back to Woodstock for dinner and a pint at the Woodstock Brewhouse. Located in a renovated historic building that was once home to the Casey Jones Denim Factory, the Brewhouse offers a variety of food ranging from Mexican pizzas, burgers, fish tacos, and more. A kid-friendly menu is also available along with an assortment of house-made sodas. Visitors can enjoy live music on Thursday evenings as well.
Just up the road, be sure to pay a visit to Ridge Runner Farm & Tap House Tucked away just off of Back Road in the rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley, Ridge Runner offers a farm experience which makes it a great place to plan an event or just sit down and have lunch. It is also kid-friendly and offers live music and other events throughout the year.
DAY 2
Enjoy breakfast and locally roasted coffee at Jackson’s Corner Cafe in New Market then start your day relaxing on the patio and soaking in the mountain views at Third Hill Winery at DeMello Vineyards. Enjoy a stop at Shenandoah Caverns Family of Attractions before continuing on to Swover Creek Farm Brewery for lunch. The wood-fired pizzas are a favorite and the farm-crafted sausages in freshly made pretzel roles won’t disappoint. Continue on to Wolf Gap Vineyard, located on a ridgeline that affords spectacular mountain views. To round out your tour a visit to Cave Ridge Vineyard, nestled in the foothills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, and end at The Winery at Kindred Pointe where you can also enjoy their walking trails on the premises. Be sure to try the Malbec while at The Winery at Kindred Pointe as they are one of the few vineyards in Virginia to grow this grape. Relax in your hotel and then enjoy dinner at Sals Italian Restaurant in Edinburg, a local favorite for authentic Italian cuisine.
DAY 3
Start your day off with a delicious, locally sourced breakfast from Pancake Underground and take in some shopping in town before hitting Strasburg’s two breweries. Vintage and antique lovers will enjoy Clementine Vintage and the Strasburg Emporium as well as Strasburg Hobbies.
Grab a pint and a bite to eat at Box Office Brewery. Housed in a renovated theatre, Box Office pays homage to its past serving flights in old film reels and beers named with local history in mind. Stroll down the street for a sweet treat at Sugar Creek Snowy and Sweet.
